Our Madrid
Below we leave you a list of restaurants and places to have something to drink that we have been compiling over the years. There's a bit of everything in terms of type of food, location and budget, but we have enjoyed all of them at some point and we can recommend them firsthand.
Snacking and tapas
If there's something Spain in general is famous for, it's its tapas. For those of you who fancy this type of more informal food, we can recommend El Economato and Bombilla Gastrobar, both in the Centro area, and Manero, with different locations, including Centro and the Salamanca District.
Spanish cuisine
Here we put a variety, there's little to say that the cuisine of the north has nothing to do with that of southern Spain, nor restaurants more oriented towards meat consumption than those focused on fish.
Fish
Regarding fish, we recommend El Barril de Goya, located in the Salamanca District, and O Pazo, which is located in Tetuán.
Varied
As a restaurant with diverse Spanish cuisine options we recommend Nájera, which has several locations including the Salamanca District and Chamberí.
Author cuisine
For signature Mediterranean cuisine, you can go to Sa Brisa, located in the vicinity of Retiro park.
Rice dishes
If you want to try rice dishes, those at Casa de Valencia, in Argüelles, are more than recommendable.
Basque
And we couldn't finish this section without recommending a Basque grill, our favorite is Asador Donostiarra, which is in the Tetuán district.
International cuisine
Chinese
It's likely that in recent years the Hotpot Shoo Long Kan is the place we've repeated the most. For those who don't know it, it's traditional Chinese food from the Sichuan region. We especially recommend it if you want a leisurely meal that won't go too much over budget.
Japan
Regarding more refined options, we would like to point out Otoro, in the Salamanca District and Pilar Akaneya, in Chamberí. Both are Japanese food restaurants and it's essential to make reservations to be able to go. This second one only offers tasting menus and is our favorite restaurant in Madrid.
Nikkei
Regarding fusion restaurants, we would like to highlight Mitiko, a Nikkei cuisine restaurant located in Tetuán.
Korea
If you're fans of Korean culture and cuisine, Gangnam in the Pacífico neighborhood and Kuili BBQ-Korean, in Centro, you're going to love them.
Capsaicin (Thai)
For fans of spicy and Asian food, Thai Lounge, located next to Retiro park, is a good option.
Argentina
For lovers of meat and Argentine barbecues, our most recommended option for this is El Viejo Almacén de Buenos Aires, located in the Mirasierra area, somewhat further away from all the options we have proposed, but the trip is worth it.
Brazil
For meat, but this time Brazilian, we recommend a rodizio, Sabor Gaucho, located in Tetuán.
Mexico
We would like to close this section with Mexican options, for this we would like to highlight El Mexcalista and Taquería Mi Ciudad both located in Centro.
Vegetarian and vegan cuisine
We highlight here La Hummusería and Superchulo, both located in Centro. In them all options are vegetarian and vegan.
Having a drink
And finally, we couldn't overlook where to have a good drink or cocktail. Especially for the latter, we recommend two options, both in Centro. From our favorite cocktail bar, Lovo, we can highlight both the cocktails and the atmosphere. Also very recommendable is Absent, where we can also try cocktails based on absinthe.
